Reforming Pre-Trial Detention

Reforming Pre-Trial Detention

Reforming Pre-Trial Detention

December 5, 2018 Posted by Scott Carlson Program Design and Implementation Management, Research and Analysis

In the Reform Kuje project, New-Rule is working with PartnersGlobal, Partners West Africa Nigeria,  and the Network of University Legal Aid Institutions (NULAI) to model how the Government of Nigeria can improve processing of pretrial detainees, demonstrating that improvements reduce overcrowding, improve prison conditions, enhance respect for human rights, and decrease opportunities to criminalize or radicalize the prison population. Our team is working closely with  locally–led and owned initiatives and linking them to clinical programs in the United States–Georgetown University Law Center and the University of Maryland School of Law.
